Raspberry Pi scroll bot- soldering, building, coding

Although I am a frontend developer with all my heart, I was always fascinated by how to build robots or wearable technology.

I haven’t done anything about it until I’ve seen a post on Twitter about some guy who has built a little display unit to show his family whether he has a meeting or is free to bother (anyone WFH and with kids out of school will understand the need for stuff like this :D) Anyway, the display looked really cool, I retweeted, and my good friend sent me a link to a Raspberry Pi shop (PiHut) and encouraged me to buy something and start building.

Developer’s library: license-free images

The right images are so important on the web. They make a huuuuuuge difference in any project. But have you ever searched the internet for an hour (sometimes more), looking for a good-looking, license-free image, illustration or an icon to go with your new design or project? Yeah…me too. Probably most of the developers were, at some point. Over the time, I discovered quite a few great websites that offer just that, so I’m gonna make your life easier. I’m gonna share my resources with you. Let’s start with images…

Strengths finder

Have you ever heard of the Gallup’s Strengths Finder test? No? Me neither… until this morning.

I was browsing the internet looking for something, going from site to site and I got across it. I was intrigued, so started to look into it. The real Gallup’s Test is paid for, but I found a good free alternative to take online. High5 test helps you understand your strengths, and although there are 100 questions to answer, all you have to do is use the slider to say if you strongly agree or strongly disagree with the statement describing a certain behavior.

How I got into uni after I thought I never would

Since most of my days are now split between inventing things we can do while locked inside the house, and which will satisfy a short-attention-span of a three-year-old, and finishing all my uni assignments, I have literally no time (or power) for any extra-curriculum learning. Sad, but that’s how it is sometimes. After all, we are all just humans, right?

Anyway, I thought I will tell u a little story of how I got into Uni after I thought I never would be able to. I wanted to write this post for a long time to shine some light on my past and maybe to inspire someone in a similar situation to mine.

Learn to code for free

Some time ago, during one of our uni lectures, my friends and I were trying to list websites or apps,
where you can master your coding skills for free or really cheap.
As current lockdown force us to stay indoors (and please do! for everyone’s good 🙏), I thought I will recreate that list and share with you all.
After all, when is the better time to learn something new?

happy hour talk

As some of you may know, I was supposed to give a talk during a happy hour industry talks today…

Unfortunately, because of the recent situation around the world (aka COVID-19 outbreak), those talks have been canceled. I was really looking forward to this new adventure and to share my thoughts and experiences with my fellow uni students attending Happy Hour, so I decided to take a brave step and record the presentation.

3 things I’ve learnt during WITW, other than the industry knowledge

Few weeks ago I attended a Work In The Web workshop over in sunny Leeds (if you would like to read more about the event, HERE is the link)

Workshop has been an amazing adventure and I am so glad I got to go and be part of it.  I love events like this one, where days are filled with great talks and panels and you’re spending time with like-minded people. The good thing about them, you’re learning a lot more than just what’s on the agenda…

Work In The Web 2020

One of my resolutions for this year was to be open for any opportunity “knocking on my door”. So when I got an email from my course leader about ‘Work in the web’ workshop, I didn’t hesitate to apply. In the end, I had nothing to loose, and loads to gain!
